Laura's Legacy - Summer 2010 Exhibit

Memorial Day through Labor Day

This extraordinary exhibit gives a behind the scenes look at the writing, illustrating and publishing of the "Little House" books. Admission to the exhibit is included when you tour the historic homes and school.

"Ma" had a different chore for 6 of the 7 days of the week. Stop in at the Discovery Center to find out what they were and how she did them. At the end we'll each make a special treat!

Patchwork of the Prairie

Friday, July 16th - 2:00

Humanities scholar Yvonne Hollenbeck will present "Patchwork of the Prairie," in the First School of De Smet. This interesting presentation includes a trunk show of 30 quilts made by members of the same family spanning 135 years. Hollenbeck shares the stories behind both the quilters and the quilts themselves.
