Preserve Laura's Legacy!

We have several small immediate needs:

The window in the gift shop needs to be rebuilt. Approx. $800

The foundation around the addition to the gift shop needs to be repaired. Approx. $2000

The roof over our picnic shelter in the park needs to be replaced. Approx. $5000

We need to have shelters built over our mini-split heating a cooling systems.  Approx. $1500

The Board and Batton on the Brewster school needs to be tightened up and repaired. Approx. $3000

The railing outside of the Surveyor's House need to be repaired and painted. Approx. $700

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society is dedicated to preserving three historic buildings: the Surveyor's House, the First School, and the Ingalls Home. Since these buildings are over a century old, maintaining and preserving them is an ongoing effort. This is our greatest expense but also our greatest treasure. They require specialized care from contractors who are experts in historic preservation.

We have several major projects coming up, thanks to a CAP grant that will help us determine what needs to be repaired and how to go about it.
